PRE SHOT ROUTINE
Much has been written about pre shot routine. It is worth your time to develop a pattern or ritual that is similar each time you play a golf shot.
Before you step up to play the shot you are thinking and analyzing. When it comes time to make the swing, it is time to feel and see and play.
Jim Flick's book "On Golf" has an excellent description of pre shot routine in Lesson 8 and Pia Nilsson's "Every Shot Must Have A Purpose" provides a great visual of the "think box" and "play box."
In a nutshell, you want to be doing as little thinking as possible when it comes time to swing. I like to say the adult evaluates the shot and makes the decision and then the kid gets to hit the shot. Enjoy the motion!
Hope you get a chance to enjoy the above books in the near future!
